Ethan Hawkins is a Nashville based songwriter, guitarist and bassist focusing primarily on Appalachian stringband, bluegrass, and folk music. Born in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, he has pursued a career in performing and education emphasized by his deep understanding of these musics as social practice meant for dancing, merrymaking and bolstering community. After pursuing an eduction at the Berklee College of Music in 2015, he formed the international touring band Corner House,  filling the roles of lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter alongside fellow Berklee alum Louise Bichan, Ethan Setiawan, and Casey Murray. Sought for his rhythmic and vocal ability, Hawkins has also performed and toured with internationally recognized acoustic performers such as Twisted Pine, Jake Blount, Joe K. Walsh and Bruce Molsky.

Along with performance, Ethan has a passion for education in the folk traditions of Appalachian stringband music. He has been an instructor at various camps including the Ossipee Valley Music Camp and Fiddle Hell. Most prominently, Ethan has shown a particular aptitude in teaching young children ages 6-14 due to his whimsical teaching style and understanding of the deep social connections that folk music can form. Stemming from his early upbringing in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ethan teaches that in order to nurture study of this music; one must understand how to have fun when playing this music.
